Three: Employ professionals.
Well you might guess that I would say this but…
…I have spent literally thousands of hours, training to be a photographer and another thousand or so, photographing weddings.
I know how to get the shot predictably every time. I know how to compose the shot beautifully and then execute it with skill and precision.
Cameras don’t take great pictures, any more than a sable brush paints a great masterpiece, it’s who is behind the camera.
So if you have an offer from a friend to photograph your wedding, think on, at the end of the day, all you will have left are the photographs so why wouldn’t you want them to be the very best that they can be?
I know how the day flows; It is the experience of being at 100s of different weddings that allows me to know just where to look and when.
I know how to work in tricky lighting. Bright sunlight, or dark ceremony rooms, do not faze me.
I can walk into any room and know within seconds where the best spot is to stand and where the best light will be, every time without fail.
I started my photographic career working for a Fleet Street picture agency. I have worked as a fashion and advertising photographer in a studio in London.
I have also worked as a stills photographer at ITV before moving into wedding photography.
